Have you ever been so focused on a subject that you failed to see another subject nearby? That’s what happened to me with these photographs. The male cardinal had my full attention as he flew among the rocks gathering fresh seed I had put out just an hour before. It wasn’t until I viewed the photos on my computer that I saw his lovely mate standing inches away from him.
A very pleasant surprise. 🙂
The next morning I spotted another male (or possibly the same one) in a tree which faces the morning sun.
I was so thrilled with taking his photo that I failed to see his mate just one branch below gathering leaves and goodies for her nest. I would have missed her completely had it not been for a sudden movement on her part.
Have you had any pleasant surprises while photographing an original subject? I’d love to hear about them. 🙂
